Kitry-EHS-MS Technical base

oracle KITRY-EHS-MS, a 100% ORACLE solution, profits from the stability and the high level of performance of the ORACLE relational database management system (RDBMS).

In the case of KITRY-EHS-MS, the RDBMS is not just used as a simple data store. KITRY-EHS-MS makes full use of the advanced facilities of the ORACLE database, including triggers, sequences, packages and stored procedures.
The performance of the system is optimised at all the levels and control of data is carried out at source.

Developed with ORACLE tools, KITRY-EHS-MS fully exploits the capabilities of true native access to the database by means of the ORACLE SQL*Net 'middleware'. Security of transactions is ensured by effective management of record locking during writing.

Satellite modules such as 'the management of the medical diary' and 'on-line support' are developed in MS .Net (dotnet).

CITRIX Application Server

The access to KITRY-EHS-MS is realised in 'thin client' mode.

KITRY-EHS-MS is installed on the application server which facilitates deployment to the user workstations. Updates of KITRY-EHS-MS are installed only on the application server, which ensures that all users are upgraded simultaneously.

All users gain an optimal level of performance independently of the configuration of their machine. In this way, relatively old PCs can be used acceptably.

The necessary band-width between the user workstations and the application server is very much reduced, which removes the risks of network saturation. A relatively slow network (10 Mbits) is sufficient and this solution is full compatible with wireless networks (Wifi).

KITRY recommends the use of CITRIX SERVER PRESENTATION.

citrix

To enable the use of KITRY-EHS-MS, it is sufficient to install the CITRIX ICA client on user workstations.
There is a CITRIX client for each operating system (Windows, Linux, Macintosh...).

About CITRIX

CITRIX is an decentralised additional management and deployment layer of Windows 2000 or 2003 (Terminal Server). CITRIX brings additional functionnalities to those of Microsoft Terminal Server. Access and connection User licences are required.

Contrarely to Terminal Server, CITRIX allows to publish an application. For the user, even if the application is fully executed on the server, he uses it like if it was a Windows program on his computer, it can minimize it, etc.

CITRIX uses ICA protocols (TCP-IP port 1494) which offer better performances than Microsoft RDP used by Terminal Server.

CITRIX provides an administrator console (CMC) to manage the system. This console is full of features and allows to publish application, follow sessions, watch remotly a user session.

Advantages of the CITRIX Solution

All the functionnalities of KITRY-EHS-MS are available, including Doc-Manager to publish used-defined documents.

The required bandwith is far smaller than with Oracle AS.

That solution also allows to publish Access queries.
The CITRIX console makes easier the global administration of the solution.

The CITRIX 'shadowing' system (control of the user session) facilitates easy and effective assistance for the user.

KITRY provide an initial training and a special assistance for those particular users so they can themselves directly provide first level help to other users and also to be able to validate the new modules added to the dedicated testing environment.

This configuration is the best for the user, it is easy to maintain during further evolutions, validations and for remote trainings. It also answers the requirements of the recommendations and wishes of the computer departement.

Today, it is the best solution for quality, stability and price.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Server

The application server uses Windows 2000 or 2003 Server, preferably Windows IIS v5 or V6 if Windows 2003 Server.
The ASP.NET 1.1 framework is required, it is installed by default on Windows 2003 Server. The middleware ORACLE SQL*NET must also be installed to access ORACLE.
To produce Word documents with Doc-Manager, MS Word 2000 or above, must be installed on the server.
To publish Access queries, it must also be installed on the CITRIX server.

User Workstations

The program is fully executed on the server, user workstations do not need to be 'powerful'.
The Operating System can be Windows (98, 2000, XP, etc.) but also Linux, Mac OS, etc.
The mininal screen resolution must be 1024x768 pixels in 256 colours.

ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER

If ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER is preferred, each must download and install a Java applet, Jinitiator, at the time of first use of KITRY-EHS-MS.
